Opportunity for Entrepreneurs to work with Columbia Business School Students

Are you an entrepreneur in the process of raising capital?

In the spring of 2007, Professor Murray Low, Executive Director of the Lang Center for Entrepreneurship at Columbia Business School, and Ron Hahn of Battelle Ventures, will be offering a Master Class in Entrepreneurship. Under the supervision of Professors Low and Hahn, teams of MBA graduating students will work with selected entrepreneurs to help them refine their business plans and investor presentations, and to help them raise capital.

The benefits for participating entrepreneurs are:
        • 3 month effort of dedicated team of students
        • all work performed under non-disclosures
        • independent review of venture opportunity
        • team available to work on specific project(s) assigned by entrepreneur
        • opportunity to refine and test investor presentation
        • research of, and introduction to, appropriate investors
        • opportunity to network with other high potential entrepreneurs
        • opportunity to network with venture capitalists and angel investors
        • all work performed under expert guidance

        Time commitment for entrepreneurs:
        • attend 3 hour session on Jan 31 to present business and meet students, faculty and other participating entrepreneurs.
        • attend 3 hour session on April 18th when students will pitch business to invited venture capitalists and angel investors. Reception to follow.
        • meet with student team as needed throughout semester to provide direction and feedback (Guideline: meet every two weeks for 1-2 hours).

In return, the entrepreneurs need to be committed to making this a positive learning experience for the students. Entrepreneurs will be selected on the basis of venture potential and their assessed ability to work constructively with a team of students over the course of the semester.

Interested entrepreneurs should submit their application on this site by December 6. Students are involved in making the final decisions about which ventures will be selected, and applicants may be asked to provide additional information in January. Final selection of entrepreneurs will be made January 31.
